Yes, SmartPlate comes with a portable lid that seals the plate like a food container, so you can stow it in your bag for later.

SmartPlate white trays are BPA/BPS free, non-stick, heat resistant, and microwave and dishwasher safe.

However, the electronic base should NEVER be put in the microwave!

SmartPlate app comes with the recognition technology on-the-go. While the app alone can never deliver the same precision analysis available by pairing with the data collected by the SmartPlate countertop device, it will make tracking a breeze with one-snap access and predictive searching of the same expansive database of foods.

Just open the SmartPlate® app, snap a picture of your meal, and adjust the portion size if needed. The SmartPlate® app also lets you scan product barcodes that tie into a barcode database of more than 1,000,000 packaged foods and beverages.

The SmartPlate app allows a user to select one of three goal-specific programs (or create a custom plan). The countertop device pairs with the app for precision image recognition, analysis, and tracking of macro and micronutrients, access a database of hundreds of thousands of packaged and restaurant items for tracking on-the-go, and get helpful tips and feedback to stay on track.

Our algorithms are trained to read things like mixed salads, rice pilaf, and spaghetti with sauce and meatballs. In fact, SmartPlate® already knows the difference between similar items like white rice and brown rice, and it will get smarter over time as more people use the technology.

SmartPlate® will help you keep track of the macronutrients that matter most to you. It will alert you when you are short on, or about to exceed, your carbohydrate limit in grams. It'll also recommend blood sugar friendly foods that will help you make healthier choices and manage your condition.

Have your own program? Know your macros? No problem. You can design your own calorie and macronutrient goals, and receive alerts when you fall short of or go over your goals.

SmartPlate® uses low-energy Bluetooth known as BLE.

Your SmartPlate® connects to your smartphone using Bluetooth. Your smartphone will need to be connected to the Internet through either wi-fi or a cellular data connection in order to connect to SmartPlate’s cloud server.
